The past few months have been whirl wind of excitement, travel, and opportunity for Mad Mannequin Photography. So many fantastic shoots to update you on!
I have spent the past 3 months in Los Angeles enjoying the vibrant fast paced city and if my camera thought it was on vacation…it was sadly mistaken.
I had the opportunity to shoot some pretty fantastic people, here’s a collection of a few portraits: David Lynch, LL Cool J, Martin Starr
I had an opportunity to get to know a few hilarious comedians and shoot on their various projects.
Charlyne Yi (of Paper Heart, Knocked Up etc) has a number of bands on the go and I was fortunate enough to work with one, called The Old Lumps. Here is one of the press shots from our session:
I captured some behind the scenes of their upcoming music video too. They were dressed up as hobos and riding on a kids train around Griffith Park (this was before Charlyne shaved her hair off…on stage)

Nathan Barnatt, who is an amazingly talent physical comedian, was a blast to photograph. Check out his youtube channel. He had the idea behind this shot and we guessed our way through not breaking his ankle for the result of it!
I joined the Sorry, Dad production team while they were shooting one of their latest web series episodes and took a few stills. Hilarious dudes, definitely worth checking them out if you can. They have a web series you must catch on Warner Bro’s called Downer’s Grove (you can watch if you’re in the US)

I had the extreme pleasure of linking up with Chantal Claret, the front-woman of the band Morningwood. We did a solo shoot at her home and had such a blast. Though we did a number of changes, here’s just one sample from our session. Make-up and hair by Priscilla Yolanda.

Chantal Claret (of Morningwood)
The uber talented Priscilla Yolanda (mentioned above as make up & hair stylist) is primarily a musician and speaking of having a blast, this girl is FUN! We did a shoot for Fender to use of her, as she is a sponsored artist in the band Fire at Play.

I went to shoot a staged reading of Lovestruck (written by Annabel Oakes) which starred Mary Elizabeth Ellis (It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia) and June Raphael (Year One, Forgetting Sarah Marshall, Flight of the Concords). A hilarious script about two women who ridicule romance and end up getting trapped inside a romantic comedy. I really enjoyed the story and the performance! Photographing the actors pre-show in the green room was a real privilege, such a beautiful and interesting experience to have the freedom to capture the mental and physical preparations before hitting the stage.

A Vancouver hip hop artist SonReal who I worked with recently has released his latest mixtape The Lightyear Mixtape (download it here for free!) Below is the image from our session which is the cover of the album.

As you may remember from an earlier post, I had the pleasure of shooting Esthero a few months back. Here are a couple images from that session:
